How To Create A Sacred Altar

Now that you've learned how to create a sacred space, it's time to learn how to create a sacred altar. I love the idea of creating something special to bring in a peaceful and harmonious energy to any place or area you will be sitting in or spending a good deal of time in.

What Is A Sacred Altar?

A sacred altar is a small table or shelf that you can place your favourite items on to bring in blessings, peace and healing to anyone or anything through the loving energies of Spirit.

There's just 3 simple steps to creating a sacred altar. At the end of this blog post I've also included 5 bonus affirmations you can use to bless your newly created sacred altar and sacred space.

Step 1

To make your altar, find a small table or shelf that you would like in the space you have just cleared. Next, source a tablecloth of your choice. I find it's best to use certain colours that invoke Higher Spiritual energies, such as purple, gold, blue, red or yellow. Of course, you can use any tablecloth that uplifts you when you look at it. Even a beautiful lace tablecloth will work great!

Step 2

Now, gather together some of your favourite things to place on the altar. These can be any items that mean something special to you, such as crystals, angel statues, photos, feathers, shells, rocks, etc. Flower offerings are also a wonderful way to bring nature and spirit divas into the home. For example, a special vase with a rose would bring in peace and joy, while some small daisies would bring happiness and laughter into the space. Spirits love fresh flowers - you can even place them into a bowl of water with a few drops of your preferred essential oil for purification.

Step 3

Arrange your items on the sacred altar any way you like. Make sure you leave a space for candles and incense. Choose a candle of any colour and an incense stick of your choice. Light them both when you're ready. However you create your sacred altar, remember to bring in the new positive energies by saying an affirmation or simple prayer of thanks and good vibrational thoughts.
